Hi! I’m Grace, the owner and maker behind Stockyard Mohair. Next to me is Calvin, my partner in the show pen and out on the trails. Years ago, I was unhappy with the way neoprene and nylon cinches trapped heat in the summertime. I began searching for functional, custom gear that would keep Calvin comfortable year round. I instantly fell in love with the benefits of mohair. It is a light weight, all natural material that allows your horse the freedom to move and breathe comfortably. Mohair also provides insulating qualities in both sweltering and freezing temperatures. We get plenty of both here in Missouri! When I learned that mohair cord is available in a wide variety of colors and custom twists, I began to teach myself how to tie and weave my own custom tack.
